A B.A.S.I.C. Christian Understanding of World Events
I offer you a simple criteria by which you can interpret the over-whelming flood of world news:
B.A.S.I.C.: Brothers and Sisters in Christ.
If we are going to live by faith then we also need to interpret events by that same faith.
Our faith determines who we are and how we will respond to the actions of others.
Our faith informs our discernment of truth.
When we are confronted with CNN, Constantly Negative News, how do we make sense of it?
Do we allow the talking heads to determine our understanding of truth or do we go deeper?
What will help sort the Truth from the Lies?
The question we can ask, that can begin to help us sort out truth from propaganda or lies, is this:
How does this affect my Brothers and Sisters in Christ?
How does this affect the Church and the preaching of the gospel?
If we begin with this question, before we accept the interpretation that we are given by the media,
we will see the news in a different light, the light of God’s truth.
When terrorists attack what are they really attacking? Society, the West or is it really the Church?
Become informed on the basics of the news.
Life is not about oil or money or politics.
Life is about how we choose to relate to our Creator.
Do we submit to a god who demands that we fight for him and force others to submit also,
or do we accept the love of the God who died for us so that others would be free to accept that same love?
Hounded
Our brothers and sisters in Christ are being hounded out of their homes, sold as slaves, imprisoned and murdered simply because they have accepted the love of God through Christ.
The media does not present these facts to you but Christian organizations, that monitor and support persecuted Christians throughout the world, do.
The Voice of Martyrs is one such group. There are many others.
Christian brothers and sisters are being driven out of areas of the world controlled by Islam. From Indonesia to the Holy Land, from Iran to Belarus, those who refuse to exchange their freedom in Christ for the bondage of submission to Allah are persecuted, hunted, destroyed.
This is the B.A.S.I.C. understanding needed to interpret world news.
How does this affect my brothers and sisters in Christ?

Pastor Philip G. Marzec has been an ordained minister of the gospel of Jesus Christ since 1983. He has been researching and writing on the topic of Salvation in Hell since 1992. Jesus is the only saviour the world needs. He is able to offer that choice of salvation to every soul ever born otherwise He would be insufficient for the task of saving the world. He will see to it that every soul gets a chance to know Him and accept or reject His offer to make them a part of YHWH's eternal family.
